For 536 years, the name Sovereign has been synonymous with Gold.
Originally struck in 1489, the Sovereign rose to world dominance starting in 1817 when it was reintroduced in it’s current size and gold purity. As the British Empire spread across the globe, so did the prominence of the Sovereign, playing a central role in global commerce. The coin was so trusted across the globe, it literally set the gold standard for all future gold coins.
The only coin to be struck on five continents, the Sovereign was the “original American Express card” accepted
