The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Government of Tibet series of Tibet in the World Currency contains 40 distinct entries with CPG® values between $10.00 and $10,500.00.
In the early 1910s, the exiled 13th Dalai Lama decided to introduce paper money to Tibet as part of his wide-ranging modernization program. While he was aware of the necessity to back paper money with gold, such measures were not taken until around 1925, when gold ingots began to be imported from India and stored in the Potala Palace in Lhasa.
